My PTSD Will Never Win Best Picture (2024) - Narrative Short

Directed by Annie Pettinga
Written by Annie Pettinga & Clancy Tripp
Produced by Kinder Labatt & Mackenzie Lyle
Based on the Graphic Novel That Was Then and This is Now by Clancy Tripp.

The line between fantasy and reality blurs when Clancy, an imaginative film-lover, experiences PTSD flashbacks that drive her to investigate the differences between her life and the movies.

Before Clancy experienced PTSD, she thought having a flashback would feel the way it looked in the movies. But where movies offer a sense of narrative - a beginning, middle, and end - reality is often messier and less structured. A panic attack sends Clancy on a journey out of her apartment and into the world where she wrestles with her fears and tries to make sense of herself as the main character in the story of her life.
